About the Author

oscar comes home by audra shine headshot

Originally from the Midwest, Audra Shine moved to Colorado at a young age and has made Denver her home. At the age of thirty-one, Audra adopted her first puppy, Oscar. Having never had a dog as a child, Audra relied on training books and research to prepare for the Miniature Schnauzer’s arrival. As Oscar learned and matured, Audra encountered many situations the training books didn’t mention. Those experiences, coupled with an interest in writing a book, spawned the idea for Oscar Comes Home. Recognizing many people get their first dog at an early age, Audra decided to write for a younger audience. This work is a product of love and appreciation for the many joys and learnings Oscar gave her over the years.

Meet the Real Oscar

oscar comes home by audra shine the real oscar

Hello!  I am Oscar the adorable Miniature Schnauzer.   I enjoy long walks in the Colorado sunshine and hanging out in my backyard as there are a lot of squirrels to bark at and chase…they are very fast.   When I am not outside, you can find me keeping a watchful eye through the window or taking a nap.   When I was younger, I liked to chew on things like my Mom’s shoes, but I grew out of that.  I get lots of treats and have lots of squeaky toys so my life is pretty good!

Thank you for visiting my page.  Love, Oscar
